    Yet another noob

Just wanted to say thanks for such a great forum. I found this place several days ago while surfing for camping info as I have a BWCA trip coming up. I am trying to get ready for this trip and spent the night in my tent and decided there has to be a better way to wake up. I'm not so young anymore and the ground seems to be pretty tough on an old guy. It's been about 15 years since I spent the night in a tent and I don't remember it being so tough. Anyway, I appreciate the info you share and I just ordered WBBB with tarp and doors and all. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions as I get more involved since I haven't even seen one of these setups before.
By the way, I am in Georgia and originally from Alabama and very much looking forward to learning from you guys and maybe meet at one of the hangs.
    Again thanks,
    Cecilg

Welcome Cecil, I am a fellow noob. Last time I slept in a tent on the ground it took me an hour after getting up to get straightened out. Looking forward to getting my setup from the UPS man tomorrow. Good luck and hope to see you around.

Welcome to our group of comfort enablers!
soon the ground will be just something to walk on...(also when going with friends in tents, you can take the rocky places and still laugh at them in the morning!)
KM (who is up early today; something about going to bed at 6pm, I guess)

    Cecil:
Welcome to HF from Bama.........You will absolutely enjoy the restful sleep that you get from a hammock in the woods. If you can make a group hang I highly suggest that you do, not only to see the other rigs but to meet the great people of this forum. Also check out the Newbie videos from Shug for some great information as well as wonderful entertainment.

Terrific! When you get your gear just get out in the yard and start fooling around with it....get to know it. Hammocks have a wee learning curve but the comfort is worth it.

I consider myself a relative noob too and this advice from Shug has been invaluable. Set up and hang as much as you can whenever you can. Your body will thank you for it

Thanks guys for the welcome. I hope you can point me in the right direction in getting all the rest of the goodies I need. I ordered the hammock, tarp and doors. I don't have anything else yet. Are there certain things that I should be getting in anticipation of receiving the hammock? Oh, I also ordered the book from Speer.
Again thanks and looking forward to getting knee deep into this. Also in finding some places to try it out in Georgia (north).

Welcome to HF and +1 to anything that comes out of Shug's mouth. He is a national treasure and one of the faces on HF's version of Mt. Rushmore.
