Where should the sides of an underquilt touch the hammock?

I made an IX underquilt and I think I made it a bit too wide. I don't have exact measurements at this time (at work).

I was camping this weekend and sleeping in my WBBB. Was a little on the chilled side as temp went down to 33 F. IX is 3 layers thick and differentially cut. Have also sewed in channels. But it seems that, unless I lay on the diagonal, the UQ side edges aren't sealing on the hammock.

Am a little bummed as it looks like I will have to trim my "masterpiece" (lol).

I make my underquilts about 40" wide. I am 6'-1" and 200#. They work well for me.

Many of the Jack-r-Better quilts are 48" wide.
    Storm Crow's (hammockgear.com) Incubator is 44" wide.

I think the lay on the diagonal thing is pretty standard. Unless I'm on a diagonal I find most of my under quilts develop air gaps and feel cold. Also happens on the diagonal if the feet go over the side edge of the UQ.

I've found that mine seal pretty well on the sides.
There is a link to a diagram of my UQ suspension in this article:

    I hope that helps.
FWIW, I think that the triangles help.
