Q; How to convert to ground shelter?

Several times, I have come across, the rare situation where it would have been easier to have had a tent with me instead. I would like to see the different ways you set-up on the ground when needed. With and without hiking poles. Pictures if any would help, also. thanks....

Unless bug netting is really necessary, I just use the rain fly as a tarp, as any tarp-camper would do.

My situation is similar in a way. Before I discovered hammocks, I used a tent & a cot (camp time roll-a-cot). Bad knee & bad back got me into the cot and off the ground. The hammock solved both problems with more comfort, less weight, and easier set-up. But there are times on my river trips where the trees for hanging aren't good, or aren't there at all. So this summer I'll carry the cot on my raft just in case, but leave the tent home. I'm planning on using my MacCat Deluxe tarp with 2QZQ doors over the cot when needed, using my trekking poles for support.

Just using the tarp is easy since I have it setup seperately. Will not save from the bugs, though. Thanks everone!!
