I have a 20* HG UQ with 2oz of overstuff + 1/8" thinsulate pad. With that I think I can get down to about 10*.

Hopefully there are some really frigid temps before then so I test my kit.
2 oz of overstuff should take your UQ to 10 degrees and then the pads a bit further. you should be good to 0 with that set up. I can't imagine it will be colder than that!

I am going to bring a couple of systems to test as the Frozen Butt is the following weekend and that will be colder I am sure

    picking my tree

Was in the area so popped in to see what WB looked like,
    heres some pics.

Great place to hang, and this was just the entrance. Plenty of fire rings, some tables, no shortage of trees.

Getting back there on 1250 rd you go back east about a mile then suppose to turn north on 350rd, I blew past it.
First clue is theres a tiny sign (camping) at this intersection.

Hope its not 10f, I'm not set up for that yet.

Yep, that's the trailhead area. I've only camped there once...there are fire rings/campsites along the 5.5 miles of trails as well.

I was thinking that the first night we might setup at the trailhead, then hike the trails and see where we decide to camp on Saturday night.

Glad you could find it...it's easy to miss if you don't know where you're going.

Most recent attendee list appears to be:

Jan 14th-15th, Woodridge Public Use Area near Lawrence, Ks
    Coming:

    Owl
    Weasel
    Fuhgawee
    Psyop
    Skygzr
    Dudorino
    WebsterJ

    Possible:
    MrClean
    Walking Bear

With that list, we should be able to hang at the trailhead...or if we need to move down into the woods to get out of the wind, I know a spot just a short distance in that should be out of the wind but large enough for us.

I too am hoping it's not too cold...Weasel and I aren't sure how cold we can go in our gear. Good news is, we can bring enough in the car as backup if we need to whimp out and grab it.

What are you thinking of using for insulation?

Told the wife about it. She told me to knock myself out. I don't think she was being literal SO it's all weather dependant now. Whether dependent now. Whether I can Weather the Weather OR Whether I can get an Underquilt sewn out of sleeping bags OR weather I can Weather it with a pad.

Been a warm winter so far. Wonder what the the 13th will show us for the weekend?

Overkill, most likely. While I say that we're hoping it doesn't get too cold, I'm relatively confidant that we've got gear to last through pretty much anything we're likely to see.

Personally, I'll have the complete HHSS setup (undercover, overcover, OCF pad and space blanket), a 20 deg synthetic bag with fleece liner, and my poncho liner. Additionally, I've got a thermarest self-inflatable pad that I can add for even more under insulation if needed.

Weasel has the same HHSS setup on this hammock, 0 deg synthetic bag, poncho liner, and thermarest prolite pad. He'll probably throw his poncho liner and a wool blanket into the car because I'm the guy who always brings too much stuff...LOL!

Looking forward to seeing you out there, my friend!

Don't forget...I'm figuring the well is likely to be shut down, so everyone will want to bring their own water for while we're there.

WOOT! Getting psyched up for this! Shipped my HH explorer deluxe out today to 2QZQ to get their Mod #4 done on my hammock in time for our KC hang.

Thinking we're gonna have a kick butt time!

The weather guys are predicting this warm weather will be with us until mid-Jan. It may be relatively warm. Wow!
