Psyop told me about the hang on another forum and even though I've never hammock camped before, I found a Trek Light under the tree this year and am willing to give it a shot, especially when it's this close to home.
We'd love to have you out there, my friend!

Suggestion if you don't mind...make sure to bring plenty of insulation, and a pad or some kind of under insulation to use in the hammock.

Temps look like they're going to be plenty chilly that weekend, and it's a good ways out from the nearest town of any size. We'll probably camp at the trailhead the first night at least, and decide if we want to hike further in or not once we've gathered most of the folks together.

With that said, here's the attendee list as I think it stands right now:

Jan 14th-15th, Woodridge Public Use Area near Lawrence, Ks
    Coming:

    Owl
    Weasel
    Drewster (Weasel's friend)
    Fuhgawee
    Psyop
    Skygzr
    Mrs Skygzr
    Dudorino
    WebsterJ
    1066vik

    Possible:
    MrClean
    Walking Bear

Weasel and I are going to try to be out there Friday (the 13th!!! ) night at the entrance/trailhead, camping Friday and Saturday nights, coming home sometime Sunday.

Bring your own water!!! Can't stress that enough. I'm sure the pump is shut down by now.

    This should be fun!

    Cool.
I'll be there Friday afternoon, may have to bail early for family stuff Saturday night - but will definitely be up for hiking the 6 mile loop on Saturday at the least. (unless it's freezing rain, then I will flake -- snow I like, freezing rain turns "fun" into "adventure" way too quickly)

    Firewood

I split and stacked firewood for the shop today. I split a wheelbarrow full into smaller sizes that can be used for campfire wood. It looks like about 500 feet from the gate to the campsites for the first night at least. I may just put the wheelbarrow in also to haul it in with.
Thats assuming the the weather and everything else holds.

Walking Bear, don't worry about the wheelbarrow. We'll just put Weasel on it...it'll be good for him to work off some of that excess energy of his!

Come on out! Even if you don't spend the night, it looks like we're going to have a lot more folks attending than I'd guessed we would...great time to meet some new people, and learn a heck of a lot more about how others do things too.

I went to my first group hang just a couple of months ago, and met both Walking Bear and Dudorino out there...great couple of guys!

Bring your friend too...again, it may be a good learning opportunity for him too!

If I come, I will definitively be hanging. Hopefully I'll have my DIY Winter Fortress (name pending) done by then, if not, my superfly or speer winter tarp will work out just fine.

Unfortunately the timing and distance was off on that trip for me.

I was at a small gathering in NE, at the Indian Caves State Park back in October. We had a small turn out...Weasel and I, Walking Bear (and a friend who's name I can't recall), Burning Cedar, and Dudorino were there.

That's part of why I'm getting pretty stoked about this upcoming run...we've got more folks coming out, and I'll be able to put a few more faces to forum names.
