Well it arrived, and thank god cause I was nervous

Well my hyperlite backpacker arrived today. I was super nervous about it cause of the set up. I'd never tied anything but my shoes before, so I was worried I was going to have a heck of a time tying those figure eight lashes. Turns out they are really easy!! Now when the SS arrives, I sure hope I can figure that out as easily.

I have to say that I can't believe how comfortable this thing is. It really is like sleeping on air.

    cool

Glad you got it. You should be fine with the SS I figured it out with only 2 people. No I am joking it was easy hardest part of the system is the figure 8 knot.

I really like the cord Hennessy uses, it doesnt stretch. I would strongly suggest you give the Garda Hitch / Alpine Clutch a try. Uses 4 carbiners, but its adjustable (unlike the Hennessy knot) and super quick to tie, just add in a couple of half hitches to make sure it doesnt slip.

Well I slept out in it last night. I just used my therma rest and my 20 degree sleeping bag cause my SS hasn't arrived yet. It got down into the mid 20s and I was nice and comfortable! Talk about awesome!

Woohoo! Congrats! Pictures please if you can post them. Does the Hyperlite have a side zipper?

I think you can order it that way but I'm not sure. If not you could always mod it yourself or have zqz2 do it for ya. I'll grab pics in a little bit, haven't taken it down yet.

Yep just checked, you can get the zippered version.

It's going to get even better, if you can believe that.

My first night in a Hennessy was, literally, dreamy. I thought there was no way to be more comfortable while I slept, just no way. But, like everything else, there are little tricks and nuances to be learned. One of the amazing things (to me) about hammocks is how a very minor change, mod, or shift can have a dramatic effect on the hammock overall. Enjoy your new air-bed!

Just my luck. Got in it this morning and the netting ripped away from the skirt. Went to REI to exchange and it's going to take 7 - 10 days for new one. Unless I'm lucky, so much for April 11 start date on AT.

    It ain't going anywhere.

April 11 isn't a bad start date. It should put you very near Damascus for Trail Days, which makes getting a shuttle MUCH easier. Plus, the really good part, is that the bulk of the horde will be in front of you. Just wait until they go into town and you can breeze right past them. Not to mention the fact that you might get lucky and dodge any snow/ice days.

Well sure enough, replacement arrived today from store in Mass and it was missing the tree straps. Was last REI store that had the hyperlite in stock. 3 to 4 week wait till back in stock. Had to switch to Ultralite to get replacement in time : (
