Sadly, I am bowing out for the weekend. It would be my first time camping in the hammock, and with my new tarp, and I really don't want that to coincide with rain and sever thunderstorms.

I'll catch you all at the next one.

Fronkey is postponing as well, so I removed his name from the list too.
When it seems like the night will last forever
And there's nothing left to do but count the years
When the strings of my heart start to sever
And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And dream me a dream of my own

Nice group...good trail...many laughs...surprise attendees were Sarah (aka Snow White) and Mr. Green.

Weather was actually pretty good. Rain only Friday night 'til about 9am Sat. Gnats were in full season. Loved learning a new phrase from Mr. Green..."a mosquito rookery" (referring to the springtime standing water ponds along the trail).

We all bailed about 1/2 day early on Sunday, but I suspect we were all a bit tired/sore since it's still "early" in the season for most of us.

A special thanks to Snipen for serving as lead organizer for this hang.

I would like to echo beep's sentiments. I really appreciate the work put forth from Snipen on this one. I had a great time and learned a ton! There was lots of trail experience on the hang, and I tried to absorb as much as I could. I look forward to the next one.

Thanks to Keys I decided at the last moment to join the group. After a week of rest and ice I felt my knee was strong enough to take on the Northern Wisconsin trails and boy I'm glad it was. It was great to spend some time on the trail with some old friend and meet some new ones. Also to again see the very camp site where some random guy three years ago went from Checkin' it out Dude to Snipen (Our little baby is all grown up). The weather for the most part was decent, but the bugs were a little thick. A blind person could read my calfs right now. Campfire stories were shared. Some PG, some not so PG. All in all it was great trip with some great people that I look forward to pounding some ground with again !

Thanks Mr Green. Its definatly been a fun and exciting time learning from everyone. As said the weather for this could not have been better. The bugs on the other hand were something else.

You sure do get an education sitting around a campfire. I appreciate the thanks from everyone, and am glad that everyone had a good time.

I am glad we didn't stay through Monday. The weather Sunday night turned nasty and continued through Monday morning.

I'm holding u to your word to Ben.

I had a great time on this trip. It was my first time at a group hang and I learned a lot. I got a chance to look at some of the different setups and learned a lot just by watching. I had a chance to talk with everyone and took away a new bit of knowledge from every conversation.

The porcupine lake site was great and the view was as good as it gets. The first night was a bit cool, but the next day was just perfect for hiking. We got to the next site and set up just before the rain started to fall. The next morning started off with rain, but by the time everyone was ready to start out it had stopped and the sun came out. The views from the lookout areas made you just want to stand there and take it all in. Unfortunately, the bugs thought it was a great area to have a picnic and we were the main course.

The last night was once again in a perfect area with lots of places to hang from; of course Mr. Green got the penthouse location overlooking everyone. The conversation that evening was free flowing and…varied

The last day we decided to end early. This had been the first serious hike of the season and my feet were letting me know.

I want to thank Snipen for all the work he put in getting this lined up. I also want to thank everyone for putting up with someone who is just starting out hanging and who kept asking questions. Also, thanks to Kayak Nut who answered a lot of questions.

I'm glad to see the trip reports coming in. I wish I could have been there again. But I had the Ozark hang in March, and have my sights on the Colorado hang in July. And don't forget the Nebraska hang this fall. I hope to see some of you down here.
