    SHT thru-hike this summer?

So a member of another group I'm a member of proposed a TH of the SHT in July, but I haven't heard a peep about it in well over a month now, and I'd really like the idea of doing that this year, and I'd like to start planning it now. Would anyone here be interested in doing that at some point in the Summer? July was just a vague date, I'm open for whenever.

I have not done a hike that long in a very long time (17 years? wow...), so I'm basically new to the particulars around a hike of that length.

I am actually thinking about doing one this year as well. A bunch of my friends from Florida and I are doing the SHT in September for 8 days too. So, it will depend on if I can get the time off. Also, I think the bugs and whatnot will be terrible in July and a little sticky with the heat. But, I'll keep checking out this thread to see the progress and keep you posted on my schedule.

I'll be watching this thread. I'm interested in doing a long hike this summer, but don't have anything decided yet. I like what I've seen of the SHT.

Lots of info on the SHT Here
You really should go back up there and do some sections and build up your trail legs and practice techniques since it has been a while for you. That is what i would do.
    Terrific trail......

    thanks for the link.

We (ricecg and I) did the Two harbors to Split Rock last summer, in a day and a half, and had a blast, and we're doing the Greenstone Ridge on Isle Royale from Windigo to Lookout Louise in June. I'm a fairly active guy so I'm not worried about the stress of the hiking and the weight, I'm more worried about the logistics for food for 10+ days and setting up some drop points specifically for that trail if we need to.

This is what this spring/summer/fall is going to be all about for me and my son. I'm shooting for a Fall 2012 SHT thru hike, possibly with my son.

It's a beautiful trail. I recommend purchasing the guide book from the SHT site or locally if you can find it.
If your lucky enough to be outdoors, your lucky enough!

I bought the latest edition of the book and it really is great. Especially since I have yet to actually hike the SHT. But, I will be going there a few times this year to get an idea of what it's like and some good areas to start. I'll probably end up bugging you guys for suggestions as well.
