opie, i've not noticed any of that yet, do the internal strands make it any harder to splice? seems like it could cause the fid to snag?

Absolutely! I thought to leave the core on the first one and it snagged and snarled when drawing the sliding loop part. I had to pull it out from the middle. I went ahead and pulled the core from the 2nd one before I started.

As far as tying knots in the core as stitching, I believe some of the surgery type knots will hold. I'll report to everyone as time goes.

Didn't notice any difference in stretch, wear, or feel as compared to the red version. I saved the core to use for stitching some straps since it's stronger than all get out.
Yep, that would be it. Ill have to peek again at some of this GB rope.

Not really, at least on the larger sizes I normally use. And it serves no structural purpose, if it snags, just pull it out.

Its not really a "core" in the sense some ropes have cores for either strength or simply to keep the rope round under compression. Its merely an identifier of genuine Amsteel Blue.

    Here is the tracer....

I didnt find it in the few spools Ive gone through so far. But did in the last one. 7/64.

Again, it serves no structural purpose, if it gets in your way, pull it out.

Glad this was asked as I got 100' of 7/64" in today. At first I thought I had ordered the wrong line. Then I thought I'd search HF and boom here's the answer. Thanks folks!

do you know what the tracer thread is made out of, i pulled the threads out of my amsteel and the stuff seems pretty dang strong, thought it might work good if i had some hand sewing to do on some gear and didn't want anything to come apart
