Me and a friend are hiking up one day, spending the night in the lodge and hiking a different trail down the next day. Because the weather will still be a little unpredictable that time of the year we will wait and decide probably the day before which trails up and down. I did this over 40 years ago as a high schooler and have wanted to do it again ever since. I started hiking again about 2 years ago and had reversations to go last September but my heart attacks last year messed that up. I would have been fine (I hiked and hammocked that same weekend in middle Tennessee) but I knew my wife would worry herself sick if I went up that mountain. So I planned it for this year. I'm looking forward to it. tnhillbilly ps. sorry Neo for the thread drift, I chased Mr Smith out of the matrix

I will miss it. I will be section hiking on the AT that weekend and the following week

Any idea of how far this is from Huntsville, Al? It looks like I may be able to make it that weekend and would love to put some faces with some names.

I placed the event on the HF Google map. It should help give drive times and directions.
