Question about sewing a nylon tarp

Im sewing my first nylon tarp. I have the nylon and nylon thread, other than threading it into a sewing machine are there any tips or things i should do or know before I start? once I have the tarp made I want to add some d-rings on the sides and the corners. Any advise would be great thanks!

Don't use nylon thread. You may end up with no end of frustrations over tensions and technical issues. Get some high quality 100% polyester thread. Gutterman's is one that is well thought of but there are other options. Take it slow. There is a rather steep curve to tarps. Make sure you are set up to handle the sheer volume of fabric.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

    What he said^

Is it silnylon? If not then your going to have to treat it yourself. If it is sil, then you just have to treat the seam on the ridgeline, atleast. The hems around the outside, you can treat, but shouldn't be required.
