Need more nights out to get Phoenix right

Slept twice in my 3S Burrow and 3S Phoenix now. The Burrow is amazingly warm and handy getting in and out of at night! With the Phoenix I need more practice, I guess. First night out at 40F, I thought it was too tight and then I pulled it WAY too tight. Slept comfortably none the less, although I was almost squashed in my WBBB. Second night out at 35F, I thought I had it right because no gaps were showing when I was lying in it (in the pics I'm not in it), but I did get some cold spots. Mostly at my shoulders, so I tightened it up a bit at that end, which improved matters but still got some cold spots at pressure points (knees and shoulders when side sleeping).

What did I do wrong? Maybe I pulled it too tight? On the other hand it seemed to me that mine was less tight than others. Maybe I didn't shake it up enough or divide the down properly? I guess I need more nights out to get it right. Perfect excuse

You may be on the spot with the shake down call.

I would imagine that the pressure or volume the down can have as you move from back to side as you squash the UQ a little with those pressure points.

Do you normally move between back and side or did you go to side as you got cold?

A option could be to pull it up over your shoulders a little and run a foot pad

I have teh same setup of TQ and UQ

but so far have only used them in my Clarks, and not in my Hennessey with a diagonal lie.

I found that the snugger the shock cords the less cold air that could infiltrate, especially at the head and foot ends. Having a friend adjust while you are in the hammock can help.

    Good luck!

Most of the time I slept on my side, but I indeed moved from side to back a few times. I had a Thermarest lite seat in the footbox of my TQ. When on my side laying fetal the UQ covers me totally (excluding my head).

I have found a few times that I'll get the UQ sorted for a back lay and then go to the side and feel the knee and shoulder coolness you speak of. I think thats it due to needing a lower hanging UQ for side / fetal than you do for a back.

That could explain it, because my boyfriend checked for gaps between UQ and hammock when I laid on my back instead of my side...

He will just have to get up throughout the night and check / adjust it for you

Try convincing someone who is toasty warm in a Summer Burrow and 3S Phoenix to get out of his super comfortable WBBB.... Any suggestions?

cold spots on your knees and shoulders tells me that you have it hung too tight and the down is compressing on the ends of the UQ. mine usually looks loose until i actually get in the hammock...
