    Chain Link Length

Hey guys! I'm getting ready to change out the stock channel rope in my ENO singlenest and have settled on using Chain Links from AHE. My question is what length Chain Link is closest to that in the ENO? They come in 10" and 20" sections. Is it better to be closer in length to the stock cord or should I go a little longer? Anyone had any experience with this. As always, your help is greatly appreciated!

what kind of suspension are you going to be attaching to the chain link?

i would probably go with the 10" though, it just gives you less slop to deal with in the end. just my opinion though.

The only reason I can see going 20 inches is for the HH. They require more wraps.

I currently use polyester webbing and descender rings. I'm looking to move to cinch buckles, if I can find any that I want to use, and use them with the webbing.

Lugnut, does the whoopie sling suspension system use chain links? How was your experience in removing the stock channel cord? I just don't want to screw up the hammock.

it's pretty easy to remove the stock stuff, just untie the knot and pull it out. i boogered up the original marine cord on my eno by using needle nose pliers a little too forceful but it wasn't a big deal to me cause the old cordage just got tossed anyway.

as far as using whoopies, you can but the chain links would not be required, they would be just an extra piece of cord. i just took the woopie sling and put it through the hammock channel twice (just like the stock cord) and looped it though itself (larkshead method).

i stink at explaining stuff on these forums so let me know if all that makes no sense at all

no problem, if you don't find the cinch buckles that you like the you could always still use the whoopie sling. the extra little bit of cord isn't that big of a deal.

also, you don't have to wrap that chain link twice through the channel if you don't want. i chose to do so with the whoopie because i operate under "the more, the better" phylosophy (sp?) most of the time LOL

You might want to tie the old cord to the new one before you pull it out and use it to pull the new one through.
