    New Idea

I'm kicking around sewing a webbing loop on the inside/outside of my pack cover. This would be along the center line but maybe 1/3 from the top. So, I could hook a biner on each side. The "outside" one clips to the hammock suspension and the "inside" one goes to the hang loop on the pack.

I'll just cinch down the drawstring to keep the cover in place. The mostly empty pack would dangle at a slight angle but be almost entirely covered I think this would shed most everything but a hurricane.

This is one of the Jeff's Gear hammock/cover. So, in good weather it will be a gear hammock hanging just within reach. If I'm expecting a downpour then I'll flip it over for "Hurricane Mode".

My thread injecting skills are kind of lacking so I don't want to ruin my cover. Hopefully enough silicone can fix anything

My pack is pretty much empty at night. I use a 6' x 8' piece of washed Tyvek as a ground cloth underneath the hammock (folded over). Pack goes on that and if it is raining, my Packa covers the pack. Four years and a several hundred miles on the tyvek and still going strong. It also comes in handy if you have to go to ground (heaven help me on that one) or as a floor covering in a shelter.

Another option is this http://www.jacksrbetter.com/JGHPC.htm this does double duty, a pack cover and gear hammock, comes ready to go! I have one and it works great, you could also DIY one!

NOw that sounds useful, it seems you use the "three use rule"

I would very much like to see pics
