I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane. - Waylon Jennings
Wanted to test the waters in the semi cold-- Yes it snows in April here in So Cal
Set up the hammock last night-- it snowed a lil
-- that's my boy hamming it up. He loves that hammock I think I know what he'll get for Xmas--
I had my ThermoRest pad over a space tarp (heavy duty type) and slept inside my North Face bag-- slept good.
View from back deck-- i can't believe it snowed in April-- crazy for So Cal
But with a view like this I can't complain.

So how was your experience in the snow? It has been cold for So-Cal, even down here in the low-lands I awoke this morning to lots of frost on the lawn and rooftops.
Those are great pics, by the way!
Thanks Brother!
It was fine-- I used a wide ThermoRest (self inflating deal) on top of a sapce tarp and a 20 degree bag--- I woke up a couple times to unzip a lil to get some fresh air. It's amazing that the bug netting blocks so much air. I didn't experience any cold drafts-- I do think that if I used my other normal width pad I would have though. The wide pad passed the test.
I don't see myself sleeping out much colder then it was last night. I'm going to look at that all season Hennessy kit though. It may or may not be worth it. I'm torn and don't know enough to decide.
I also hitched it up with the Hennessy figure eight-- not as hard as I thought it would be. It did take longer to get it taunt then the descender rings. I think the rings will be a permanent part of the kit.
Lots of things to learn still.
I really want to hike the PCT, it looks amazing. Welcome to HF!

Sounds like a CA soundoff in here! I live in Wrightwood, just a little ways off from you. Been camping and backpacking in one form or another my whole life in your area, and mine.
Welcome to the forums. Tons and tons of info here, more than enough to keep me busy and empty my wallet.

Welcome new hanger, from Gadsden,Al. Nice photos! Looks like you're still enjoying some good weather. We're dodging tornados here, waiting for the pavement melting heat to begin.
