A question on backyard hammock stand(s)

    Hello everyone.

It's been a while since I've been on here and I have a question that I'd like to ask the collective hive their opinion. I had a turtle dog stand that I'd put up in my backyard. And while it works great, it only allows for one person to hang at a time.

So after talking to my wife, we decided to put posts in the backyard to hang from. We're going to try and hang them in a triangle shape.

My question is this: Do I need 2 posts per hammock? or can I get away with one post at each corner of the triangle?

I'm going to get 10' - 4"x6" posts(sinking them 3 feet in concrete) and hang them so the hammocks are pulling along the 6" length. Would I be able to angle the posts a little bit and hang 2 hammocks off one post? Or would I be better off in just putting up 2 posts per planned hammock? I think if I put a brace along the tops of them I'd be safe in hanging 2 from 1 post.

    So, what say you all?
There are two kinds of people in this world. Those that can extrapolate from incomplete data.

I made two tensa style stands (one for my son, one for me) using 8 foot long 2x3s. Cost me less than $20 total. So for ten bucks a pop, you can have portable, easily movable stands for everyone. That's what I'd recommend.

Two posts per hammock will provide more togetherness, but the three post configuration will absolutely work.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

3 posts for 3 hammocks. 4 X 4's 10' long. Bury 3' deep and cement in. Connect posts on top like a fence and it's bomb proof.

Alternative use parking lot sign posts. See pics below for my set up
