    fixed eye bury

anyone got a link for how to do the fixed eye bury end on a whoopie sling?

i followed directions on another post and got the adjustable section made only to realize that in those directions they were just using a knot at the end instead of the fixed eye. now i'm worried i don't have enough cord left at the fixed eye end to do what i need to do.

i can't do the knot cause it has to go through a channel on the hammock.

here's a link to samson's instructions. just adapt them to 8-strand if you are using 7/64s amsteel. there's a tiny little bubble next to the taper picture for 8-strand.

Samson Ropes has an extensive library of splices. Google Samson Rope and look at their library of splices. The have the Whoopie Sling with Locked Brummel spliced fixed eye described in detail with all of the measurements for the buries.

I use this method that opie showed as well. No stitching needed.

If you have to make a fixed eye loop but cannot access the other end of the amsteel, you can do a McDonald Brummel. I have used it to redo fixed eyes on whoopies where I did not want to undo the whole sling.
