    quilt question

I have contacted preacher's wife about sewing a quilt but i thought i might take a run at it myself. i have some rip stop just enough . I also have some silnylon. could i use the sil nylon or will it trap condensation from my body and freeze me?
i have a good amount of sil so what else could one do with it. I have plans on making my 10 yr old a pancho.

Do not use the sil for a quilt, you are right about the condensation. As far as the sil that you have, you could make a tarp. Hope this helps.

    SilNyl & Quilts Don't Mix

The biggest problem with silnyl as a quilt shell is that once it's been compressed to pack it takes forever to loft back up. Doesn't matter whether you use down or synthetic insulation. The air can't get back into the bag to allow the insulation to loft.

    Regards,
Excellent tip....never would have thought of that. Hope that wasn't learned the "hard way".
