Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.
It is just a case of tomato or tomato (you know that doesn't work so well when written).
Animatedknots.com is calling this knot a Noose Knot. They state that the noose knot and slip knot or structurally the same.
Either way, this usage is very cool.
Upon further inspection, they are actually calling it an Arbor Knot. What this knot really needs is a few more names.

So, I have all these oak boards in the back of my truck for an oak file cabinet and went to grab the ratchet straps (which I loathe) when suddenly, HEY! JAM KNOT! I chose to tie a bowline as the stopper and then worked the end through the adjacent overhand and BAM! It worked great! I was even able to use the loop of the bowline as a sort of trucker's hitch to finish the whole wrap off.
Great knot! Thanks for adding one more reason for me to grab a piece of rope and show the wife a new knot.....much to her chagrin.

seeing the knot in animatedknots.com makes it clear to me it is indeed a slip knot, with the loop of the slip knot around the object being encircled. Didn't see that before.
