    Questions about possible Government Shutdown

So Friday at midnight if all goes the same the government will be shut down. From what I have researched this will include all National Parks - the gates will be locked.

I was planning on having my first hang this weekend at Red River Gorge, which is federally owned. Hopefully they will not close the gates. I am going to call tomorrow morning and see what they are planning to do. We have a state park in Indiana as our backup.

Just wanted to send a heads-up to anyone planning on trips to federal land any time soon.

For what I pay out in federal taxes my national park had better be open this weekend unless the government plans on giving me a larger tax refund as compensation for ruining my long weekend off. I don't get a break on my taxes the government expects me to pay and I expect them to do their jobs thats what I pay taxes for.

Article in the paper today made it sound like it would be in stages, letting people out, keeping new ones from coming in.
    Could get ugly.

Ya, I don't want to come out of the backcountry and not be able to drive my car out. Maybe I should take some extra food

No gates to close at RRG. You should be fine there. I'd still plan on buying a parking pass on the chance that someone still makes the rounds...

PS: be careful around the clifflines. Sounds like there may not be any rangers to come to the rescue....

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver

If gov shuts down there wont be any refund checks

This is particularly worrisom for me as a government contractor, if they stop paying my company they may stop paying me since I will not be coming into work
