The last couple of days have been sunny and i decided to get up the Ridge and travel some of the deer trails etc i was on last fall. Because some of the River area at the bottom was blocked with snow i had to bushwhack straight up. The day started of sunny but soon became overcast.
Looking up the Little Slocan it was closing in with a snow storm.
I started heading up hoping i was in the right direction to connect with one of the major trail corners. I came out almost right at the corner and fallowed it up till i got to the lunch spot. Not much to look at but its one of the few flattish areas with a view.
Just above the lunch area.
After lunch i decided to head east traversing the south aspect of the Ridge making my way to Talbot Cr. On the way i saw evidence of bear activity.
A while later i was getting close to Talbot and am fallowing a deer trail.
At the top of the last pic you end up on a spine, one of many, that runs up and down the south face of the ridge.
On the other side of this spine is a little canyon/gully where Talbot cr. runs from near the top of the ridge around 5400', down to the Little Slocan river. It is full of little waterfalls as it steps its way down the mnt.
This is in the gully at the far end.
Back from the end looking out.
Part ways up the spine looking back into the gully,
I get back out and onto the spine again
This is also a deer trail that fallows the creek down the mnt so i fallow that knowing it will get me back down to the back road eventually.
The forest is pretty open in areas as i make my way down.
I get the odd view and see there's still lots of snow pack on the mnts
Almost down to the valley floor and some of the familiar forest near my place.
.
I love days where you head out on the spur of the moment and it turns into a great day. I'm fortunate to have Perry Ridge at my back door.
Below is a link to a video of "The Perry Ridge Ecological Reserve",,,,for those who might want a bigger picture of what it is.
