Rings versus buckles is mostly a personal preference.

You have to tie a backup knot with the rings, which isn't necessary with the buckles.

I like making them as well. What don't you like about the setup? I find that they are difficult to adjust under load, but still prefer them.

    Great Idea

I never would have thought of that, but I think it is a great idea. If I ever have to order another one I will do it this way for sure!

    Thanks!

Glad I found this post I'm ready to upgrade the setup on my HH and I was wondering how to change or cut the ropes. I'm learning everyday

Once you remove the little hammock end covers on the HH you'll be able to see and easily understand how it's tied off. You just gotta make the leap and snip the zip ties in those end covers so you can take a peek.

There are all kinds of hammock suspensions, and all kinds of different reasons to use each one. Whoopie slings are great, but they aren't the 'end all be all' solution. There is room to talk about others without pushing slings in every suspension thread.

I really enjoyed making the slings...but I just got the webbing, buckles and Dutch clips (all in the same day, gotta love fedex!).
So, I'm in the ENO double and wonder, can I attach the buckle with the biners that came with that or should I tie another piece of rope on the buckle and connect that to the biner?

I ended up with 15' webbing, much longer than my slings. I just greatly expanded my site selection...which I get to test this weekend!

Personally I would lose the biner altogether. I would tie the hammock to the buckle and use the Dutch Clips on the end of the webbing. The only reason I can see keeping the biner is if you want to remove the suspension and put it on another hammock.

Aren't Dutch Clips for 1" straps or webbing?

I use stock HH huggers which are wider than 1". Strapworks sells 1" polyester straps but I don't know if they will stretch at all . . .Any experience with these straps? HH also makes 1" huggers but they are more $$.
