    Jay Cooke State Park 4/8 - 4/9

Had a good time at Jay Cooke. The snow is all gone except a few icy patches in some shaded areas. The Ash Ridge campsite is REAL muddy. I'd recommend a different site this time of year but other than that it was good. The river is flowing real nice especially at the swinging bridge. Didn't see anyone out on the trails at all. I was the only one camping at any of the backpack sites...just me and the critters. I heard some wolves howling a couple times. I didn't find any winter deer kill sites on the trails as I had in the past but saw plenty of wolf scat in the Lost Lake Trail area. Also saw bear scat in four spots on the trails near the Silver Creek camptsite which btw is a really nice campsite. I had never been over there until yesterday on my hike out. I think I'll be staying at that one next time I go up there. Kinda reminds me of the Rollins Creek sites on the SHT. Here's a quick video from my YouTube channel though it's mostly gear talk. Next trip on the calendar is the SHT over Easter weekend. Can't wait!

Nice trip report, thank you. It looks like you had some great weather on top of it. How was the night time weather?

The video is excellent, edited very well(not that I'm an expert but it looked good).

Thanks for the comments. The weather was beautiful for this time of year. High was 61F on Friday and got down to 34 at night. I stayed plenty warm with my 3 season Yeti/Hudson River quilt combo.

Nice report, Pizza! Thank you! I've camped at the Ash Creek site (last Fall) and it IS muddy despite being one of the best for a view of the river.

Looks like you had a beautiful day out there. I bet the bears out there were thinking, "Does a pizza crap in the woods?" Glad you had fun trip dude.

    Great report.

I'm glad the rain held off a day for you. I love Jay Cooke SP. I can't wait to get out there in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the great vid... I'm new to hammocks and your vid showed me a few things that I hadn't yet thought of. I have my first real test hang next weekens and it looks like I have some homework.

    Thanks again, Ski
