    Last weekend of April

I know that this is the weekend of the mahaa, but for anyone down near north carolina or tennesee or Virginia who doesn't want to go all the way to PA, it looks like my buddy mac and I will be hanging at mt rogers that weekend, somewhere in the vicinity of the thomas Knob shelter. Where I can get two ponies to stand together long enough to support a hammock.

this is nothing formal, just gonna be there.

Mt Rogers is a great place to go. Lots of places to hang well before you get to the shelter.

Hamhocker has never been and so wants to see the wild ponies. We will be making a trip there later on this spring

I can't say for sure, but I may possibly be in the area with a hiking buddy... only "the Shadow" knows... (and my schedule works out)

That'd be great. She'd have a loooong way to go to get there.

well if you are there, look for the biggest physical backpacker you have probably seen up there (me - 6'5, 400#s) and an old guy that looks like kenny rogers (pre botox), thats my buddy mac. we've been there a hundred times, but not as hangers.

I will look for you if I make it there. Crossing my fingers that it works out.

Are you talking about April 30 ?

I may be up for some outdoor R&R and may try and pencil that in. I have only day hiked at Mt. Rodgers once but have heard glowing reviews from others.

NCPatrick - Nice to see another from the Winston area.

Hey Topper! We'll have to get together sometime. Hopefully it'll work out to meet that weekend.

I've hung out up at Rhododendron Gap with Ashman (from Greensboro) and his daughter, though it has been a few years. It's also a great place to hang.

Last call for Mt rogers! We will be hanging somewhere between thomas knob and rhodo gap. Should be arriving up top somewhere mid afternoon on saturday. I am planning on leaving tomorrow night around midnight, crashing for a few hours at a rest stop. We are parking at elk garden and hiking in. I have never seen elk garden, have heard its awesome. I have been all over the massie gap/wilborn ridge area a bunch, so this will give me a view of the side I have never been to. Hope to see some ponies, and remember folks, as the sign says.......do not molest the ponies.
