For a first time whoopie sling maker, my first attempt was a pain.... but after three simple items or steps, they are soo easy to make. So the title of this post - Darn taper pliers caught your eye... definitely on purpose.
- Darn - Darning needle, I tried wire as other threads shown using heavy and thin gauge wire I had from other projects, and although it went throught the middle quickly, the flexibility of the wire was an issue. A simple 4" darning needle made it easy
- Taper - This made a huge difference, especially on the locked brummel. No, I didn't taper it like the adjustable side (taking a few strands out in increments), but a 45 degree angle when I cut the amsteel. For the adjustable side, I worked my way down from 1 fid taking three strands from 7/64 amsteel
- Pliers - Using a short darning needle (or at least that is what I am calling it for now), I would only have about 1/2" exposed when I reached my exit point, the pliers came in really handy as I was able to pull and twist the bury attached to my metal darning needle.
So there you have it - I went from a headache to 3 pairs of whoopie slings in no time at all.
