    Sewing Gathered Hammock Options

I am try to make my own gathered hammock and I am trying to get a very professional look. I was going to get an upholstery shop to hem a piece of nylon taffeta fabric and also make a triple stitch and loop at the gathered ends and they wanted at least $50. Is there anyway I could make a professional look with some kind of seam tape or adhesive or do you know anybody that would do it really cheap? I do not want to do any of the sewing.

It's actually incredibly easy to sew a gathered end hammock. It's just series of straight stitches. You can look at Knotty's video here to get an idea. It only takes about an hour to make one too.

Agreed if you have access to a machine.....it was the first thing I ever sewed.
If you don't have access, what you'd pay someone may be enough to buy one!

I think that if you are not willing to do the sewing then DIY is not for you ! Maybe you'd be better off buying what you need and not worry about it. Sorry to sound so bleak about it but those of us who sew and make the project ourselves have a sense of pride that you won't get from buying and having someone else sew it. That's just my two cents.

I agree. DIY is certainly not for everybody. Grand Trunk, Trek Lite or ENO make hammocks you can get for that price range. They generally don't include bugnet but neither would a DIY someone made for you. They make very good products which are widely used by folks on the forums.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
