    Maccat or Warbonnet Tarp

I wanting more coverage than the stock HH tarp on my expedition. I'm trying to decide between the Maccat Deluxe and the WB Edge.

But I have a few questions and was wanting a few opinions, or comments from any one that may have used both.

Are these large enough to need panel pulls?

Does the Edge need its seams sealed? If so where do I get the sealer? I like the idea of being able to get doors for the edge.

The Maccat is a little wide, which would add to head room if so desired...

    peace

To add more to the mix you can get "doors" for the maccat if you desire. Check out 2qzq They offer both sewn in doors and add on "beaks".

I have several tarps including the Warbonnet Mamjamba tarp with side pullouts. It is an excellent hammock tarp. Very well made. The ridgeline seam does not need to be sealed. If you get side pullouts, you do need to seal the thread area where it is sewn in. The standard seam sealant is called Sil-Net and you can buy that from a number of places.

I am glad I have the side pullouts. I bought the door kit too. I have not used it yet, just played with it but I can tell you it will be a great addition to the standard tarp.

No. Unless you step up to either the BMJ (Warbonnet) or Ultra (OES) the pulls really aren't needed. The fabric panels aren't big enough to benefit from it.

No, the Edge's ridgeline is folded and bound with grosgrain, so no sealing needed. Alternately, the OES comes pre-sealed.

There's no wrong choice between them IMO.

    They are both excellent tarps.

Brandon (Warbonnet) does not seal his ridgeline. Because of the way he folds it and sews gros grain over it, it does not need to be sealed.

Both are small enough to maintain tautness without panel pulls but of course they would certainly make the tarps more sturdy in very high wind and provide a little more side to side room underneath.

For seam sealing any silnylon you can use Silnet brand sealer or Permatex flowable silicone.
