ENO Slap starps and Clark NA

Is the ENO slap strap system worth the extra weight/cost or is there a better system out there? Right now I'm just using 5mm rope on my NA and I'm curious if it would be better to go with a strap system. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some use a setup like this

Webbing and a short cinch or ring buckle. Use a tree hugger or not on the tree and hang your hammock on the loop on the other end of the buckle setup. Mule

Mule is right. Either roll your own, or choose something different.

The slapstrap is a valid design, but it's made of nylon webbing which stretches too much. If they switched to either polyester or polypro it would be an improvement.

I used the slap strap system one time and switched over to the buckle system. The stretch with the slap strap was too much an I could not seem to ever get it tight enough to not have me close to the ground the next morning. If a good rain had come in, I probably would have gotten wet.

That's what I don't like about the slap straps. You only can set them to certain lengths. Other methods can be set to whatever you want.

Thanks for the info on the slap straps. Is there a good source for the webbing buckle system or is that more of DIY project?

This thread is a good read about changing your suspension system. Hennessy or not. Get rid of those slapstraps. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=3129
