I will try and summarize everything into a MB-ish format and post it back up sometime tomorrow for feedback.

If I do go forward and order patches in a MB style would anyone be interested in them? It would be pretty cool to see another Hammock Camping badge being worn out there by another troop.
Yup, I'd jump on it. Troop 423 in Durham, NC

What about a "knot" for us scouters? LOL. Use the overhand knot design, but make the bottom portion look like the hammock logo.

I would take a couple dozen at least. If you do move forward, I would also suggest that you have them made by an authorized BSA embroiderer (official seal on the back). If they have the fleur-de-le in the design and the BSA on the back, they could be worn as activity patches as well. Others may have more specifics on those requirements.

As such, I would also recommend they are ordered with the button loop on them. It is easier to remove if not wanted than trying to add them. I'd gladly hand them out to scouts and scouters that used a hammock on a campout.

We have used Moritz Embroidery (http://www.moritzembroidery.com) in the past with great service, results, and prices. (I have no association with them other than as a customer). In fact, since a big part of the cost of patches is the artwork design and setup, individual and small orders could probably be made fairly cheaply in the future.

    Great idea!
