BSA Hammock Merit Badge - Help Needed

im so excited for this merit badge. i am an eagle scout and am still involved as a assnt. scoutmaster for my troop as well as involved with a venture crew that works very close to the council staff. when i saw that the hammock camping merit badge had been approved i called our scout executive and we started putting ideas for a hammock program area at our camp. he has seen and experienced how comfortable taking a nap in my hammock is and is now encouraging scouts to switch to hammocks

Hey guys,

The mods are still discussing it, but it really might be better if you came up with a BSA patch that didn't involve the HF logo.

All the uses that have ever been allowed were related to hangouts, or shirts for hangouts, or flags, etc. Those things all represent the site itself. This is different, though, as it uses the logo to represent hammock camping generally. We're not sure that's the best thing for either the badge or for HF.

Perhaps you should have a contest among the scouts to design their own logo?

The below design is from a troop contest to design our new troop t-shirts. Our troop is so impressed by hammock camping they wanted our logo to reflect it. This is the design we will use for our Merit Badge.

Here are the cost break downs by quantity: Total Order Qty:
50 @ $1.33 each
100 @ $0.86 each
200 @ $0.56 each

I think it is a deal if we get more than 200 on order

I voted and am would like some IF they become availiable, put me down for 10, for ordering purposes, because this is NOT an order thread.

1. Group-Buy: Looks like there is enough interest in a Group-Buy, I will go ahead and set one up today \ tomorrow.

2. Started the Hammock Merit Badge this week with our troop, and there was great response. I was very surprised to hear the troop start planning how to complete the MYOG requirement. I told all my seasoned hangers that the requirements were not retro-active, so they have to make new modifications, and sleep another 7 nights.

I hope you guys have an much success and fun teaching this MB as I am.

William, I am many years removed from being a Scout, and am not affiliated with any troop. However, that is a nice looking badge and I would like one. At the going rate, I'll purchase at least 10 and donate the rest to our local Troop 122, Redding, Ca

As you suggested, I will include the requirements.
A friend of mine is an Assistant Scout Master and I was planning to direct him to this site and this thread, anyway.
