Hello everyone! I found out through Iraqninja about this trip. I have a new unused Hennesy and live just a few miles from Village Creek State Park. If you have any questions I will do my best to help. It will be hot and humid, but I was planning on doing a trip like that this year myself.

Oldgringo asked about seafood restaurants. There are a couple in Beaumont with Pappadeauxs being the most popular. That is about 20 minutes away. Not real far. There are two Catfish restaurants in Lumberton where the park is.

For a half day canoe trip you can put in at Baby Galvez in Silsbee, Texas. From there to the Park it would be anywhere from 5- 7 hours.

    Chad,

Glad to see you here. Maybe we can sneak off and do some bushcraft . I may bring one of my old parachutes for us the play with. Maybe hang it up for a sun shade or cut it up to make some hammocks, chairs, etc.

    Folks,

Chad is a former Marine, and I am a former Ranger, so we will probably be eating snakes and bugs.

I am also planning on bringing my dutch oven, so look forward to a mountain man style breakfast.

As I mentioned above, I will be bringing one of my old military parachutes and maybe we can work on some DYI hammocks. I don't have any cordage though...

Following this thread with much interest. Working on healing and dates and if all that shakes out I'll commit, in the meantime, I'll read on. I'd rather commit late than back out.

Fair enough, hope you heal well and quickly and can make it.

    Bump, Bump,grumble,curse, drag.

Dayam this is hard work getting this on to the first page.

I'm to old for this. One of the youngsters should lend a hand.

3-4-5 June sounds doable [I hope]
