tree huggers for the AT ?

Just wondering what lengths of webbing people are using along the AT for whoopie sling setups. I don't want to over do it or under do it. Thanks all y'all (That's everyone)

I don't know specifically about he AT but one four and one six or seven will get about everything. You could use dyneema and put sticks under it between it and the trees and not have to carry webbing.

I've found 6' straps to be more than adequate for my trips along the AT.

I use 4 footers along the trail in Pa and have never had trouble finding a spot.

Trees in NWGA AT tend to be quite a bit larger then most in GA. I use a 4' tree hugger and carry a 2' extension any time I go to the AT.

My bigger issue is trying to avoid poison ivy which is on almost every tree between Springer Gap and Blue Ridge Gap.

I never thought of carrying one larger and one smaller. Back when I was useing the 42" hennessy huggers it seems I would always one tree that was way to big and one that was plenty fine. I'm in ohio btw.

Just made me some 4' straps. We'll see how they work. I always carry 5' amsteel extenders just in case. I'm thinking about making some dynaglide ones but am not sure yet if the force on the tree strap is more than that of suspension. Anyone know?

i used 2 12' straps with rings on AT. since then i use 2 - 5' huggers and whoopies.
