    Blood sacrifice

My brother is a shade tree hot-rod mechanic. He says a car won't ever run right until you give it a blood sacrifice, i.e busted knuckles, mashed finger nail, puncture wound, etc.

I just gave my most recent project a a pin prick sacrifice that got blood all over my white silk fabric. Guaranteed Success!!!

The exact opposite for me, but then I opted for the burnt offering instead. My first DIY hammock I tried to heat seal with a candle--gadfry how polyester burns. Guaranteed failure (had to make the hammock 6 inches shorter than intended).

Next time I think I'll try the blood thing instead--thanks for the tip
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Avoid the temptation to offer a blood sacrifice by stabbing the injector needle through your finger. If it hits the bone you'll break the needle. But this more directly related to the machine than a pin prick at a distance.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

That happened to my mom when I was a kid (she got lazy, and was cutting some corners safety-wise). I still remember her with her hand on the table, and the doctor with a pair of pliers standing on her finger and tugging at that needle with 2 hands.

You might want to stay away from knife making as well. Every one I ever made drew blood before it was finished. Usually before they were even sharpened. That point will get you every time.
