Hey, My name is Richard , most of my friends call me Bunky. I've been backpacking for about 20 years as a ground dweller. Recently I made the decision to go ultralight. My pack has gone from 35+ lbs to now under 20lbs. Two weeks ago I went on my first weekend hike with ultralight gear, including my DIY catenary tarp (12.65 oz.). I thought I was going to love my new setup, but to be honest I hated crawling underneath the tarp, and lying on uneaven ground. I'm not an old man yet (45) but that's not my idea of fun anymore. My buddy suggested that we look into hammock camping. Yesterday I received my Grand Trunk Ultralight, not a Warbonnet BB, but for $17, I couldn't resist. Now I use my cat tarp to cover my new hammock; total weight about 25 oz. Im looking forward to learning much more about hammock camping.
