Eno slapstraps stretching

I have problems with my eno slapstraps stretching. I used them with the carabiners that come on the eno hammock and they would stretch. I just got whoopie slings and set my hammock up and sat in it and the same thing. They start out tight then after a few minutes they start stretching. I retighten my slings and the same thing. Any ideas?

you'll see that most people on here think very badly of the slapstraps (hence the nickname "crap straps"). i'm stuck with them for now until i can get something else. ultimately i'd recommend getting something else. if you can't do that now, you're best bet is to set up, get in and bounce around, get out, tighten, get in bounce around, get out and tighten. usually two sessions of bouncing will get them stretched as far as they will stretch (depending on how hard you bounce). at least, this has been my experience. if you forget, you'll wake up with your back dragging the ground. good luck. hope this helps.

You can pick up a set of tree huggers from Arrowhead Equipment for $7 plus shipping, and they'll arrive in a couple of days. Zero stretch. Just my $0.02 worth.

Then it either slowly or quickly dawned upon our feeble brains that the Slappers were stretching.

"Wow! What a great idea, and what poor execution!"

I chalk it up to a learning experience. Another learning experience I found on HF is that Paul at AHE will do you right.

You more than likely have the whoopies installed backwards....... happens more often than not.
Check that.

From what I understand, Eno's straps are made from nylon, which is the cause of your problem. Nylon webbing will stretch under a loaded hammock, even if you are connected to them via some awesome amsteel whoopies. As the others have suggested, a set of polyester tree straps will keep your bum off of the ground. Many of the cottage vendors sell poly tree huggers and will tailor them to your desired length. Otherwise, if you can find a source of polyester webbing, tree huggers are about the easiest thing to DIY. Again, check the cottage vendors, or find yourself some polyester ratchet straps and repurpose them.

They are definately backwards if the sound they make is "seipoohw".

Lots of people have complained about the slap straps stretching. And I made the same mistake you did in buying them because it was so convenient to get everything you need all at once....right?
But like Ganon414 said they are made of nylon so they stretch, unlike polyester ones. It puzzles me how they can make such a good hammock and fail with their suspension without ever changing it for the better.
