I wanted a hammock stand that My wife and I could both use...at the same time! I wanted it lightweight enough and be able to pack it small enough to fit in the trunk of a car to take places. I got the basic idea from Shadowmoss' (Thanks!) conduit stand (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=19946), but again I wanted to hang two hammocks from it! So instead of the A-frame ends I made trapezoid ends to give some space between the hammocks. I used 1-1/4" EMT Conduit for all of the poles and cut up a piece of 1-1/2" conduit for the sleeves and corners. I welded some bent bolts and attached a piece of amsteel on each trapezoid end to keep the legs from spreading apart under load. The base is about 11-12ft wide and it is about 5'9" tall and 13' long. It does have some end to end motion caused by the jointed top bar, but with a decent tent stake and single guy line on each end most of that goes away. I may try to work some more to make that top bar tighter which would take away that sway. All in all I think I got exactly what I was looking for! It is not the lightest thing at probably 50 lbs, but is less than 4 ft long with all of the pieces taken down.
