I am the only woman in the photo with a hat on. It was my HF identifier. When I arrived, no one lingered in front of Dot's. I walked through Dot's but didn't see anyone I recognized. I was followed out by Medicene Man. So the hat did its job. My first Trail Days was all the fun I expected plus some. I had a few goals: test out bridge hammocks -- I bought a bargain from the patient Jacks R Better folks; see as many underquilts as possible; and meet as many hammock forum members as possible. Bonuses were meeting Dutch and completing my Dutch gear collection, meeting the much admired Thorwen, setting off an intense discussion of vapor barriers in the Tree to Tree booth, seeing just how very small Mac Entyre's loaded pack was, seeing a very fine face painter from Abingdon doing a good business (gee, can I now charge the trip to my taxes?) and finally, the biggest surprise: spending several enjoyable hours vigorously Contra dancing to some very fine live music. My first time at this style of dancing, I had very sore muscles the next day. I now wonder just how many miles my feet danced that night! I spent more money than I expected, but got cool stuff for myself and my loved ones. It was a fine weekend.

The woman next to Turtlelady is my wife, Sleeps With Skunks. I was bringing up the car from Vendor Village when the photo was taken.

It was good to meet Angry Sparrow and Cannibal. Dewey Bear was especially excited about meeting a real cannibal. He was talking about it for a while. He says he doesn't feel so guilty about eating all those teddy grahams now.

It was great meeting you folks. I'm looking forward to it again soon.

I had a great time... It was so nice to see many HF'ers again, and meet a bunch more!

Dewey was a riot at Dot's.

It does have a certain smell in Dot's.
Oh, thanks to Lone-Wolf from Damascus (24,000 AT miles under his boot/participant at Whiteblaze) for snapping the pic.
I'm in both pics. In the group photo, I'm on one knee, with grey "WhiteBlaze" t-shirt on. Pics below show me with Brian of OES (who just made me a MacCat Deluxe earlier this month and which I used each night that week on my AT section hike), with Tom Hennessey (I bought my first hammock from him at the '05 TDs), and with David "Awol" Miller (author of The A.T. Guide).

My little group arrived in town Friday around dark from our 52-mile section hike in central VA. Set up in The Only Wanderer's (TOW's) yard and headed to Quincy's for pizza. Talk about a boisterous, noisy place! Ate with HikerHead and J5Man. Might post some pics later. Am still catching up right now.

Had a great time out at Trail Days. Getting together with old friends, making new ones.
It was great to be able to have folks from the form stopping by and saying hi. Added bonus was finding out that Mac and the Tree to Tree grew was set up next to me.
Both Mac and TJ Brown found the mule trailer a good place to hang.
The $ 1.00 USA made titanuim tent stakes where a big hit.

It was also great to see that both the hikers and the locals found items of use and intrest at are tables.
The added bonus was after Trail Days spent a few days hanging and mule driving with dear friends in those beautifull mountains of east Tennessee.

Tis beautiful here in Tn for sure! Hey, I think you are referring to my old school mate Mike McClellan and his family. They live right down the road from me. Is he hanging in hammocks yet?!? I'm planing a 3 day hike on Holston Mountain, maybe I can roust him out.

BWCA are planning a two week canoe trip in BWCA in Sept that they are all
going be hanging. Ask him how he always brings bad weather where ever he go's. Used to get work mules out your country back in the early '80.
