Thanks on this, hadn't thought about it, but sounds like a good idea...I'll have so see where I can find that here...I'm sure it's out there...
I've also got to look into masks. Some workers in the relief areas have been reporting some asthma-like symptoms from the dust. If I'll be wearing a mask for 10 hours a day for a week, I'll want to find something comfortable as well as effective.
DD maybe Camphor oil? I think it is menthol ?

Best of luck to you, and bless you for volunteering. I will be friending you on FB shortly. Experience in my guard unit in the Katrina assistance effort, the biggest things were contaminated flood waters and feral animals. Sadly, things die in floods-mostly domestic pets, and you will likely see/smell a LOT of that. Also, and this comes from experience-I dont know how their sewer system is there, but almost ALL of the storm drains & sewer covers had floated off during KAtrina, leaving a hole in the road that one could EASILY fall into & drown. We made it SOP to strap our rifles across our front, so that they would catch the lips before going all the way through. So, be careful-those lids there are likely gone too, if their sewer system is set up like ours.
You are a good man DD. Your family will be proud once they get over their concern for your safety.
If you can, grab some Vics Vapo rub (R) or similar. Put a dab in each nostril if you encounter some bad smells. IF putting in in the nostril is too much, on your top lip will also work.
Trust me, a DB smells worse than almost anything a normal person has smelled.
Best wishes on your efforts. Wish I could come help you!
Edit: apparently I should read all posts before commenting. Anyway, just count this a seconding the previous mention of Vics.
