lash it/ zingit tautline wont hold

I got a roll of the thinner lash it cord to use for my tarp guylines and the tautline hitch ive been using with paracord will not hold with the lash it.

Is there another knot I could use that will hold well, to have it easily setup and adjusted as needed like I can with the taughtline knot? Ive seen figure 9 hooks, do those work with guylines? I really like the thin and lightweight of the lashit but what am i to do without my beloved taughtline hitch?

    Thanks alot.

I find a couple of extra wraps make it hold.

More wraps on the hitch should help.

Since you mentioned figure 9's, here is another possibility...http://hammockforumsstore.webs.com/a...s/show/1475971

Consider UCRs instead of knots for your guylines

Since you are using a splicable line, some people like to make UCRs and use them instead of knots for guylines. They work especially well if you have bungee cords built into your guylines. Instructions on how to make and use UCRs are on site. There is a thread on how to use UCRs as guylines also.

    Best of luck.

I'll try this explanation: try bringing the live end up and around the inside of one side of the bight and wrap it there (as opposed to wrapping down and outside the bight. ) Then finish the knot by wrapping the live end around both lines of the bight and either slippery knot the live end back through the new bight you just created or pull it all the way through the new bight you just created.

Here's a link to the video I saw this at http://www.youtube.com/user/NaturalB...30/YEpagec4fQI. I think if you go to his site, http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/ca...s-hitches.html, he explains the knot and it's name. I do think the video shows it better than his site though.

Anyway, I think it's a great variation on the taut line hitch.
That which does not kill me has made a grave tactical error.

THANKS! Extremely timely video for me. I was just experimenting with my new tarp today. This gives me ideas to try tomorrow to simplify things and do it easier and more effectively.
