tarp ridge line combinations that work well

is there an "IDEAL" combitaion of ridge line and sliding prussics? i've read on this forum that the prussic knot/loop should be smaller than the main line.( i seem to remember that it was something like half- can't find the posting that suggested this)..this got me to thinking...if there's and ideal line dia. to do this, what about line types? i'm assuming that dislimer line types will hold better and allow me to use one size line whruout the tarp suspention system. i haven't bought any line for the tarp set up yet and would love to nail it the first time out the gate.

I have had good luck using the same diameter line for both the lines and the prussics. I use Speer no tangle and Kelty Triptease with good results.

I use 550 cord # TripTease. Ideally, at least when used in climbing, you get more bite with a smaller cord used with the prussik. I have never had it slip using this method.

I have been using 1.75 zing it on 1.75 zing it. I have to do 4 or 5 wraps, but I can get is to hold. You will have best results with abrasive line with the supporting line 2x the diameter.

Does anyone have a good thin diameter abrasive line that will work better for 1.75 zing it?

I had trouble with my 1.75 lash it prussics slipping on a ridgeline of the same stuff, even with 4 wraps. So I'm currently experimenting with a constrictor attachment with good results so far. Slippage is a non-issue now.

I'm still working out rope options as well. In terms of slipping, has anyone tried the klemheist knot instead of the prusik? I perfer this knot and have had good results with it.

I use a CRL of 2.2 Zing-it with loops of 2.2 Zing-it using the Klemheist knot and have not had any issues with slippage. Not sure how many wraps, but it's a bunch (5 or 6), and they are hard to slide even with no tension on them.

I use 1.5mm cord on paracord but I'm thinking about downsizing the main line to 1.5mm or 2mm cord and I think I could use a strand from paracord (the center) for the Prussic.

thanks all, i'll take a bit of time to mull over the good info. i think i'll make a trip out today, to west marine and peruse the cordage isle. to assess the different line they carry. this with a eye towards dutche's "abrasive line" qualities.

I've been using Sterling 1.5mm accessory cordage on dynaglide quad wrapped with success. Granted dynaglide is 2mm not 1.75, but it is similarly slippery as is zing it so may work.

If you're interested, you could pm me your address and I could send you a couple feet to try out or I could pm you my address and you could send me some zing it seeing as I don't have any zing it to test it on myself.
