Cheap and easy webbing and suspention.

I just wanted to share with you how i set up my hammock.
Not having tons of money laying around i looked at a way of getting treehuggers and suspention as good and cheap as possible.
Thats when i found this. (2 x 11.5' webbing with buckles for $4)
For me it becomes a treehugger and suspention in one and for a reasonable price.
This can succesfully be used as is but what I did was cut the buckle off about a foot in and sew a loop on the end. Same thing goes for one side of the remaining part of the webbing, thus having two pieces of webbing each whith a loop on one side.

(This might be overshare but..)
The setup is now to have the short piece with the buckle on the hammock and the long piece around the tree and down to the buckle.

This makes a very quick and easy setup of my hammock.

Time will tell how the buckle will affect the webbing but after one full night an several test hangs I see no abrasion. If so this could be done with no buckle.

If it works, it works. It says maximum load of 882 lbs. I wonder if that is the safe working load and therefore would it have a higher breaking strength or is 882 lbs the actual breaking strength.

I read that as WLL, and the straps are polyester...I think the straps are fine. The cam-loc buckle, however, makes me a little nervous.

That said, it works, and the price is more than right. Good show, PlaZma!

depends on the weight of the hanger remember load increases as the angle increases. 882 might be ok for a smaller guy at a good angle but if you are 6.5 and 400 lbs watch out.

I like that set up..all I use are the Dock Lines made by Rod Saver... ...
The cam locks on all of mine have done just fine for me...now going into a couple years now with heavy use.

The webbing is probably fine but I don't like the cam locks if for no other reason that weight and bulk. They can have a damaging effect on other gear they are compressed with in the pack. Dutch clips would be preferable in my mind. But HYOH

I think you misunderstand how I use the cam locks.
They are not on the tree-side but on the hammock-side.
At the tree-side there is only a loop in witch the webbing runs through itself and goes down to meet the cam locks attached the same way on the loop of the hammock.

As packaging goes I roll the webbing around the cam locks thus protecting my other gear.

Be careful with those cam locks! We picked up a few pair from Autozone, looks the same as yours, ours were rated at 1100 Lbs. We had two fail with our HH in Haiti. Luckily, we were close the the ground. Also tried stronger units, but weight is a big issue. Tougher models are bulky steel. Petzl Emergency Assenders work with thicker ropes on the HH Deluxe or Safari models, but still an overall weight concern. Let us know how yours do.

I'll keep an eye on those cam locks and how the webbing is holding up.
