    Custom Made Zippers

So i've been looking everywhere for a zipper 125" long to go on the bottom of my MYOG Bug Net. Finally came across Zippersource.com. They make custom zippers to order. You can choose colors, styles, sliders, and more. Very nifty! I ordered a 125" Navy #10 Bag style Coil zipper with two double pulls. Exactly what I was looking for!

Did you order the pack mule to go with it? #10 is huge and heavy. you might find it too stiff for the application you want. Most folks would go no higher than #5 and many would go with #3.

Incidentally in case you did not know.. zipper is measured by the width of the loop when engaged. So a #10 zipper is 10mm wide at the loops when closed. It is typically used for boat cabins and very heavy duty canvas awnings. However, the source sounds promising for those folks who want to have extra long zips.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

The only thing my shoe repair shops do any more is repair shoes. I've even tried awning and upholstery shops and they stock only a limited supply. While they can order just about anything, they will only do so if they are building the project. They do not service the DIY folks. I guess it depends on where you live.

I have had great results with #5 Coil Zipper stock from ebay I buy it in 30 yard roll and then buy zipper pulls with dual pull tabs and cut the zippers to any size I need. I have some single pull tabbed also for outdoor furniture cushions, also for pack repair/fab etc.

Been looking for quite awhile and finally decided to make my own hammock
http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=670 Thanks to Headchange4u and all the others!!!! Found an excellent source for zippers and netting. Goldenwest Swap Meet. Corner of Edinger and Goldenwest. Found zippers (size 3 and 5 in both coil and tooth) for $1.00 per yard and netting for the same price. The zipper they had was probably 50' so you won't have a problem with finding a long enough one, also gove me two pulls! Sorry do not know what the actual type of netting is but it's very slightly larger than no seeum. Extremely tough! stretches to about 50% (from 12" to 18") and very difficult to tear. Bought black myself but they had white, blue etc.

Thanks to all for the outstanding information! thought i would pass this along for any near by.
