May 13,14,15 in Mass. post 180 has some information as to when and where. That is the closest but there is alot of people in NY who can show you what they have. Even though you have been a member longer that me welcome to the forum, or welcome back.

When I first started looking for a hammock, I looked through all the mfgrs models and load bearing stats and first listed those that would hold my weight with a good margin for error.

Then I listed the features offered and chose from among those that I wanted and I made my decision. Since costs will seldom go over $200 for a manufactured hammock, I didn't consider that aspect (you may want to do otherwise).

I settled on the Warbonnet Blackbird 1.7 dbl. I use a slumberjack sleeping bag as a top quilt and a Therm-a-Rest mattress underneath. My current tarp is a Sportsman's Guide 12' x 12' - $30 special which I had prior to the hammock. The Hammock weighs MUCH less than my tent.

I have been at this for about a month and I've been out camping twice. I love the comfort aspect and the ease of set-up / take-down. I'm 62 and I don't like sleeping on the ground anymore. Hammocks from here on in.
