DIY Hammock Under Construction

I'm in the process of building my first DIY hammock - double layered, gathered end with zippered bugnet, shelf and footbox. I'm using 1.1 ripstop for the hammock body and 1.0 for the footbox and shelf. (The quality of the fabric is top notch - thanks Scott @ backwoodsdaydreamer.com).

Question for those who have traveled this road before - should I also go double layered on the footbox and shelf for added strength? Is that wise or just overkill?

I've always gone single layer for these and have not had a failure yet. Even if you overload the shelf, chances are good that the noseeum will fail before ripstop anyway, IMO of course.

Maybe single layer the shelf and double the bottom of the FB? I noticed I tend to shift weight by pushing down with my heels. Not a problem if I'm paying attention, but while sleeping, who knows. Though, everyone has different sleeping and turning habbits.
