    Sleeping Bag as top quilt

Finding the Hennessy too claustrophobic I now use a GT Nano 7. As I already have a lightweight down sleeping bag I intend to use this as a top quilt with the 3/4 zip unzipped to leave a foot pocket. However, I am worried that the Nano 7 is a little delicate and I was thinking of shielding the zip pulls with velco tape to prevent them from puncturing the hammock. But what about the sharp teeth of the open zip itself, could that damage the hammock? Does anybody with a Nano 7 or similar have the same worries?

if your concerned, why not just rip down some duct tape and put it over the zippers.

I wonder if there is good way to cover up the zippers without hurting the bag. I have a REI Halo 25 and it is made of Ripstop polyester which is thin. Duct tape would leave some residue when I want to *GASP* ground sleep and zip that puppy up.

Hey Britcoms, where did you get your GT hammock from in the UK? Couldn't find any suppliers here and I was interested in buying one. TIA.

LazyMan - Electrical tape or green painter's tape might work. I haven't tried either on a sleeping bag zipper so ymmv.

I'd definitley go with PVC tape, masking tape is awful after a few days and will either fall off or weld itself.

I've holed my DD twice with the metal zipper on a synthetic bag but my montbell down bag has not left a mark yet as its a bit more rounded.

Wrap a big rubber band around each zipper pull. Eazy-peazy!

you know if the hennessy is too claustrophobic you could cut the net off and still have the nice hammock. I know billybob58 has done that and enjoys it alot
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......
