Need help w/guyline and other accessories

I want to thank everyone for their help in deciding which model to choose. I went with Traveler 1.1DL (adjustable strap webbing) with a Mamajamba tarp w/pulls. The deciding factor for me was the more open feeling I will hopefully get with the BugNet. Kindly let me say that I am pleased to be part of your community.

I did not order guyline, carabiners, or anything else as I was not sure where to start. Never having seen, set up or used a hammock I really am at a loss for what lines, and lengths, carabiners and so forth I'll need to properly set up the hammock and tarp.

I would appreciate any help you could give me with what I might need for accessories. Thanks in advance.

2 climbing grade carabiners $6-7 each - for use with the hammock

2 mini biners or cheapo biners from the box by the register $1 each - for use with the tarp NEVER use the lightweight biners for the hammock...PAIN results

50 -100 ft 7/64 Amsteel or other Dyneema rope - $0.60/ft or so...make sure whatever rope you get is "static" line; a single braid dyneema will also allow you to make whoopie slings, nacrabiners and other cool rope tricks

4 bungees or some other shock cord to allow a flexible tie down - $3

8-10 tent stakes - $4-20 depending on what stakes you buy

Shug's videos are a way to start. As is the search on HF or Google as well. Many choices of guylines so its more a matter of what you like, your style, price etc but you can look at Mason's line, triptease, speer no-tangle, zing-it etc. In regards to biners, you have choices their with the light Nano line, or the Dutch clip, nacro-biners (you can simply just thread it through itself as well).

Then comes the world of insulation, pads, topquilts and underquilts. Loads of info on here for that.

Lots to look through but at least you are in th right place!

As far as guy lines go, I pirated this idea from Shane and I love it ! (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...nsioning+lines). Simple, easily adjusted, self-tensioning, takes the stress point off the tarp, and allows for adjustments to be made from under the tarp.

Hahaha. Apparently, an ellipses was introduced into the previous link which rendered it unusable. That's probably on me, although I'm not quite sure how I managed to pull that off. Anyway, here's the link (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...nsioning+lines).

*I guess the forum inputs the ellipses because it happened again! No worries though since this link is working.
