Dutch Clips: Which Way Is Up?

So, I love my Dutch clips, but after a recent trip I noticed that one had cut into my webbing strap, which worried me. I took some time to use a file the edges a bit to round all the corners, but I also wondered if I had set it up correctly.

Is there an "up" direction for the clips?

Photos online show the clips (which look like horse shoes) pointing either up or down (by "point" I mean the open end).

When my Dutch clip cut my webbing, it was pointing down. I have since been pointing the clips up, but I just want to be 100% sure.

    Thoughts?

I have been using mine thick end down, open end up. I also recently learned that it should be used in a 'P' formation on the tree.

I really don't think it matters as long as everything is seated correctly. I personally set them up with the opening to the bottom.

I noticed the dutch clips listed on the JRB site ate showing 275 as the weight limit. The set I bought last year with the JRB complete suspension system I thought was 400 pounds. I weigh 310 pounds today, hoping to drop some of these pounds, and have hung from my suspension maybe a dozen nights without issue. Am I testing fate? Am I going to end up on the ground one night if I keep using them?
