I used the free shipping to order a spool of Amsteel. Got tired of running out.

Thought you had given up on 'fiddly whoopie slings' in exchange for webbing.

I prefer straps but I do use whoopies on several of my hammocks. I used the term "fiddle factor" not fiddy whoopie slings"

I try and use a variety of different suspensions systems. I have not yet played with using aluminum rings so I got some recently and hope to try using them with some DIY hammocks I have recently made.

    For me...

Straps...easier and faster to use but there is a weight penalty

Whoopies...fun to say, lighter than straps but more fiddle factor.

I have run into some situations using whoopies at my favorite hanging spots where it was a royal pain adjusting the tree straps along with the whoopies so I could set my my hammock where as if I had been using straps with cinch buckles I would have been set up in under a minute, two max.

No right or wrong, its just a matter of deciding and using the suspension system that works best for your situation and preference.

What I like about the forum is we have many different people coming from different walks of life looking at the same problem and coming up with different ways to solve it. Not all solutions are equal but it is nice to have choices ( and have friendly debates about which solution is best ).
