    Hanging in the house

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had a simple way to hang a hammock indoors, I particularly want to hear from the light ones (less than 150lbs).

Reason for the question is that I live in the city and have trouble setting up the hammock for the small things. (measuring for diy projects, trying an idea before it goes to the woods). I guess i don't have to be able to get in it but it helps!

Thanks in advance, love the forum.
Thanks to Jeff for inspiring me ditch the tent and start smiling!

Ive been thinking about the same thing this week. I have a park with ample woods next door to my house but Id like to have a test spot in my office just to play with.

Risk's $25 Hammock Stand; still the cheapest and easiest thing going. Little more than $25 these days, but still not too bad.

Looks good. I might have to try that

Here's what I did. It was fast, cheap, and is low profile. Just make sure you get the lag screws in a stud. The angle iron with holes can be purchased at home improvement stores. The hooks were robbed from some old tie down straps. Works great.

Detail I may have to give your method a go. I like that I dont have to store anything else in my small space when its not hanging.

Detail I really like that method, good permanent setup.

What I have done since first post was use a couple of pull-up bars I had laying around, found a straight shot between to doors, and carefully got in! spend and hour or so in it ( hard to get up when your comfy man) seems to hold fine.
Let me state that I weigh 120 soaking wet and do NOT recommend this!

    Thanks for the comments.

I set my hammock up in between 2 doors, both of which close towards the pull of the hammock and I have the rope in the hinge, when I need it up to do stuff to it.... I may or may not hang in it sometimes too... I don't recommend it though.

Thanks. The trick with this method, like any other, is finding two walls the right distance apart without having to sell your furniture.

@ Qchan -- Having done quite a lot of trim carpentry, I'd be careful hanging from a door. Some carpenters use surprising few nails when installing a door. I've seen plenty of times where the jamb itself had no fasteners in it at all, just in the trim. You could easily fix the issue by removing a couple of the short hinge screws, and replacing them with a 2.5 or 3" screw into the stud.
