Lot to read here, but it looks like the "quilt" could be very useful for hangers.

I used to use Ray's stuff until i found out how nutty the guy really is. He finally took down his "What Really Happened" page (yeah...Bush blew up the towers on 9/11) on his site, under pressure and loss of money. His gear is ok, but not the best and seems to be copied from just about everyone. For me, it's a matter of principle. I just don't want my money going to support that kind of agenda.

I actually bought mine from BF. Didn't know about Ray's... umm... points of view?

Glad you're liking the TQ, Syb. Yeah, check this old discussion out:

That said, his stuff is good, albeit basic, gear.

Jardine has always been a quirky genius. He definitely has a Point Of View about many things. Most of which I don't agree with.
For those of you who are climbers- Jardine invented the spring loaded cams , Friends,( the forerunner of Camalots, Supercams, Flexcams, etc.) that are a main stay of modern climbing protection.
He is a very innovative guy and was telling everyone to go light, way before the modern UL movement. So even though much of his philosophy is pretty far out there, his practical contributions have been significant.

I viewed his site years ago and focused on the products offered. I made a lot of gear with inspiration from Ray and shared those ideas with friends and troop members.
I can't find his "points of view", but whatever he said certainly had a polarizing effect on people. Hate I missed that...

Regardless, I'm happy with the TQ and look at his site - he's out there using it as well as professing going lite. The guys has some serious experience and uses his gear thoroughly.

I made some of his quilts, tarps, and other gear and I will say that, for the beginning DIYer - he offers excellent instruction, good value, and good materials. If you don't like his politics - don't buy from him. HYOH
